    Forward Deployed Engineer

    Solo QuantJunior / Mid · Full-time / Part-timeHybrid / Remote · Budapest or London

You will integrate our platform into the systems of prop firms, funds and trading desks through short, mostly remote engagements, and bring recurring client needs to the product team.

    About Solo Quant

Solo Quant builds predictive analytics for futures markets. The platform analyses how instruments reacted to past economic releases and, before the next release, reports directional bias, confidence, consistency and expected volatility for each instrument. Our proprietary trading and risk model is deterministic and works only from historical market data.

The first phase covers GC, NQ and ES around CPI, NFP and FOMC. Our clients are prop firms, hedge funds, institutional traders and research teams. The product and the team are at an early stage.

The team is small, and each hire owns part of the product. We look for self-motivated people who drive their own work without close supervision. We use Claude Code and other AI tools every day for coding, research and analysis, and we expect you to check AI output as critically as your own work.

We usually work between 8:00 and 20:00 CET (CEST in summer).

    What you'll do

    • Lead short technical onboarding projects for new clients, working with their developers, risk managers and heads of trading, until the integration runs in production.
    • Join pre-sales calls with the commercial team to scope pilots and answer technical questions.
    • Build integrations and data pipelines between our APIs and client dashboards, risk systems, alerting and trading tools.
    • Build prototypes of custom views, reports and workflows for client pilots.
    • Identify the underlying problem behind each client request before writing new code.
    • Debug and fix client-side production issues.
    • Complete technical questionnaires and security reviews, and write integration guides and code samples.
    • Identify custom work that repeats across clients and propose it as product features.

    What we're looking for

    • Junior: professional software engineering experience or a portfolio of shipped projects.
    • Mid: experience that includes client-facing or cross-team work.
    • Production experience with Python and/or TypeScript.
    • Experience building and integrating REST and WebSocket APIs, webhooks and authentication (API keys, OAuth).
    • Good SQL and data modelling skills.
    • Experience with a cloud platform (preferably AWS), Docker, Git and CI/CD.
    • You can explain technical trade-offs to clients in plain language, and tell them when the product is not the right fit.
    • You take responsibility for your work and can make decisions when requirements are unclear.
    • Good English and willingness to travel occasionally to London or client sites.

    Nice to have

    • Experience with trading or market data technology (FIX, Rithmic, TradingView webhooks).
    • Background in fintech, data products, solutions engineering or technical consulting.
    • Experience with Claude Code or other AI development tools, and building with LLMs.
    • Knowledge of Next.js or React for client-facing interfaces.
    • Familiarity with SSO, security reviews and compliance requirements at financial institutions.

    What we offer

    • Compensation based on experience.
    • Access to Claude Code and other AI tools.
    • Mentoring matched to your experience level.
    • Responsibility for your own area of the product.
    • Career progression based on performance.
    • Training and networking opportunities.
